And the results are...

So I went in for my HSG yesterday morning. I was very nervous.  I got it done at a Diagnostic Imaging Center and they were awesome!  Very nice, super supportive, and very informative.

The test is not the most comfortable thing in the world and definitely very awkward!  Without sharing all the details it took about 30 minutes, some cramping, lots of pressure, and then the results!

They were NORMAL!! For some reason, I was convinced there was something wrong and that's why we weren't having any luck.  But I am relieved and apparently all my tubes are clear. :)

So moving on to the next step, which for us is the injectable hormones!

Five on Friday

ONE –
This is my first ever Five on Friday and I am pretty excited!

TWO –
I am super impressed with Missouri. I filed my taxes on January 31st. I got my MO state tax refund YESTERDAY! Wow, that’s only 5 days!

THREE –
I found this very cool app, ‘mysms’. It seriously is the best thing ever! I am with patients all day long so I don’t have time to look at my phone. Well this app will forward all your text messages to your computer. You can text right back from the web browser! And it’s pretty! The texts look normal so nobody even knows I am using it. Seriously, go try it.

FOUR –
I had a SNOW DAY this week!! Let me tell you it’s not as much fun as when you are a kid. When I have a snow day, that means I have to make up the time and be super busy the rest of the week. But I did get some quality time with these babies.

 Meet Moose
And Bailey

FIVE –
I know this a little premature but this will be how I do my gender reveal! Obviously who doesn’t love cake, but with M&Ms falling out?! Come on, it doesn’t get any better than that!

XOXO
Mrs. B

My Version of the "Fertility Smoothie"

Throughout this whole infertility process, and after seeing a couple negative pregnancy tests, I was willing to try just about anything!

I had heard about a fertility smoothie that was supposed to give you a boost. So I looked it up and came across this. It couldn't hurt, right?

So I got on Amazon and bought all the ingredients. One of my friends had told me about Fertiligreens so I substituted that for the powdered greens.

So mixed it all up...and let me tell you, it was DISGUSTING! I literally could not finish it. I'm not a smoothie person to start with and I'm a very picky eater so that probably played a big part in it. But I was determined to have a smoothie everyday to help my fertility. So I decided that I would mix the Fertiligreens, the omega, and the Maca powder in with water. In my opinion those were the most important.

Ladies, it was even worse! But at least I could chug it!

My bestest friend told me that she had started to mix it in with mango/orange juice. So yet again, I tried. It was MUCH better! I still have to chug it (probably because I'm a baby) but at least I get my 'fix' every day.

I'm not sure if it's helping or not, I probably will never know, but hey it can't hurt!

Our Journey...In Progress

So we have a partial snow day here in Kansas City. So I figured now would be the best time to dive into our journey with infertility.

I am by no means an expert, in the big picture we have only been dealing with infertility for a very short time compared to other couples.

I have read and spoken to people who have been dealing with this WAY longer than us. I found this funny, because for me these treatments are my only option, relaxing will not make Baby B.

This might be a little lengthy so bear with me…here we go…

When I was 17 I was diagnosed with PCOS (polyscystic ovary syndrome). Fast forward to last summer. I

knew that it was going to be a process for us to get pregnant so about 2 months before we got married

I went off the pill. We were married on August 31, 2013. Since I went off my birth control, I never got a

period. We visited our doctor and came up with a plan.

Plan A: I started taking Progesterone to induce a period. On day 5 of my period they started me on Clomid, a hormone to help you ovulate. Then about a week later I had an appointment and they did an follicle ultrasound, I HAD AN EGG. I was ecstatic!! I was given an hCG trigger shot and was told exactly
when we needed to have sex. Done.

Two weeks later, I took a test....big fat negative…:( So the doctor started me on the next cycle but changed the hormone to Letrozole. Same process for the next 3 months on Letrozole. I had follicles every time but no baby Barber yet. :(

Last week I had a consult with my doctor to come up with a new better plan.

Plan B: My doctor wants me to get a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to make sure that everything is flowing like it should. Make sure there are no blockages. (I know, more than you wanna know)
If everything is all clear then we move to the “heavy duty” hormones.

We will start the injectable hormone, Follistim, next month if everything goes according to plan. We will inject the hormone ourselves for 5 days at home and then get checked. This time they are shooting for 3-5 follicles!! Woah baby! We will also do insemination this time to stack the odds in our favor.

So that’s our plan!

Here's to hoping!

Unroll.me

Have you heard of this Unroll.me website?? If you haven't you need to go there ASAP.

https://unroll.me/

This is the coolest thing. I am a sucker and I sign up for every newsletter on every website, so that leaves me getting 10000 emails a day. This website fixes that problem. It's hard to explain but you link it to you email and then you can unsubscribe to emails with one click. But the absolute best part is the roll-up feature! You can decide which emails you want to add to your roll up. Then once a day you get ONE email with all of those emails in it. Then you can quick look through them, click if you want to see more, or just delete it!

Isn't that amazing?! This has seriously changed my life! I picked to get my roll up in the afternoon. So everyday during my lunch I quick look through the email that has probably 12 emails rolled into it and then quick delete the whole thing! Amazing.

Go try it! You WILL thank me.
